It's in the center of the 'golden triangle': 20 minutes from Arles, 30 from Avignon and 50 from Aix en Provence and 10 minutes from St Remy de Provence.
The 'mas' dates from the 17th century, part was a chapel which probably predates the rest.
The house is surrounded by 5 acres of land divided between orchards, olives, almonds, fields and pine forest.
There are many terraces, a protected coutyard, and a shaded area at the front with a marble table to dine 'al fresco'.
On the ground floor is a big living room with partially vaulted stone ceiling opening onto the courtyard (the remains of the chapel).
A fully equiped kitchen (granite counters, dishwasher, many appliances, etc) opens onto the south terrace. Behind this a pantry opens onto another terrace to the north .A large dining area (table seats 12) leads to a cosy library.
Then a bathroom with full shower, WC, washing machine, etc .
A very large bedroom (double bed) with stone vault, opening onto the north terrace has an en-suite bathroom with bath.
On the second floor there is a mezzanine with an office area; we leave our computer but there is also WiFi throughout the house with ADSL connection if you bring your laptop.
A very big bedroom (kingsize bed) with fireplace, cable television and DVD opens onto a shaded south balcony.
Next is a smaller bedroom with a double bed and an ajoining room with a single bed. These rooms can be separated with a sliding door. They both open onto the south-facing terrace-balcony.
There is a separate WC and a full bathroom with bath.
Outside there is a terrace to the east with beautiful views onto the forest and cliffs with a day-bed, pergola, table and chairs.
In the courtyard there is a stone barbeque and fountain - this is also home to a family of tortoises!
The southern terrace is well-shaded with a 250 year-old tree. There is an eating area and an old irrigation pond, now an aquatic garden with water lilies, papyrus and fish.
The terraced garden leads to the roman swimming pool (15x5m) equiped with alarms, a shaded area with pool loungers, etc.
There is also a 'petanque' (boules) court - a traditional provençal game.
Nearby (5 minutes walk) is a tennis court, and there are 2 golf courses, Manville (9 holes) 2 kms away and Servannes (18 holes) 10 kms. There are many others in the region. The Mediterannean beaches of the Camargue are 40 kms. from the house
The rental includes all utilities, cleaning (2 x 3 hrs, more on demand), all linens, pool and garden maintenance.
The house is filled with art, books and music.
